Ahhh - eyeball and blood

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
I hadn’t had any pain in my eye at all yesterday (other than someone flicking wine in my eye but it was the other one) anyway looked in the mirror last night and there is a huge red patch on my eyeball. Looks like its blood but I touched it and its not its under the erm... skin (??). It looks horrible and I’m quite worried about what it is / what has caused it / how long will it stay like this.

I'm seeing a nurse in the morning anyway so I'l ask then unless you recon I’m going to go blind or die or something

Help please :crying:

Could be high blood pressure then, possibly, best to get it checked.

not sure how long it'll last, maybe 3 or 4 days, shouldn't imagine it'd be dangerous to your vision - but get it checke dout still cos i aint a doctor!

    Subconjunctival haemorrhage info

Get the nurse to check your blood pressure while you're there.

Cheers for that kentish i didnt notice your reply yesterday :)

my appointment got canceld so i never got to ask anyone about it,
i do have high blood pressure tho.

Do you think it would be worth me getting it checked again?
they had decided that i needed to change my lifestyle (ie, more exercise, lower fat, lower salt, etc) and that it wasnt high enough to warrent treatment.
I did do a conscious effort to do that but iv been slowly falling back into my old ways i suppose.
I would imagine if i went back they would just say well your not doing what we told you to (it would be a fair point)

    Cheers

    Hey,

I'm actually studying to be an optician, and I can pretty safely say you're ok. Like Kentish says, it's most likely a subconjunctival haemmorhage, most likely caused by coughing and sneezing a lot from your cold. Just think of it as a bruise, which is basically what it is. If it hasn't gone in a week, then go to your GP/Optician.
