Someone I know is planning to come to London for the first time from abroad for a weekend - what would you sugest are good places to go or things to see in the capital (and cheap)

so far I'm thinking:

London Eye
Walk along the Thames and see houses of Parliment, Big Ben
Buckingham Palace

but whatabout unique places to go for lunch or dinner? And other suggestions.

It is worth doing Horseguards, St James Park and Buckingham Palace. Unfortunately the Palace tours have probably finished now.

    St Pauls Cathedral
Do a Jack The Ripper Tour
    HMS Belfast
    Tower Of London

I think Transport for London are still doing deals where you get reduced entry prices if you buy bus/tube tickets, so it is worth checking out their website for information. I'm told they also have a good list of places to visit, which is pretty comprehensive.
