    Why does the NHS and ALL of the welfare state such so bad if they have so much money given to it? I really want to know why?

    I don't know about other areas of the welfare state but I think that both of the others have summed it up. If you put more in, deliver more then expectations increase and people just keep on demanding more and more.

    You could give my organisation £500m more this year and I'd find health related services to spend it on and there's another 300 organisations like mine in England alone...

    I'd say there is a link there wouldn't you?

    NHS Trust are apparently going to overspend by £200m this year (according to the DoH) but the DoH itself will underspend if it produces the same results.

    This would suggest that perhaps they keep hold of too much...
