Seriously, you don't need to approach her with an "agenda." Just be cool about it.
"Hi"
"Er... Hi... what do you want?"
"Oh nothing, just came over to say hi to ya. Thought we could just talk about stuff."
And just go along with it. You don't have to wait for a specific reason to talk to her about, just start talking, ask her questions about her, etc.
If ya want to get to know her... well then get to know her!
AS for her friends, either go and do it in front of all of them to show no fear or catch her alone at times.
