ok so what the hell does that meen!? I'm going to buy a new laptop
http://www.packardbell.co.uk/products/node1821.asp?partNumber=pb17d01401 that one to be precise, and it says it has a DVDRW + R9 and i was wondering what the R9 part in particular meant. will it play cd-roms?

    I've no idea what the 9 means, unless for some bizarre reason it can write at a max of 9 times normal speed.


    The + and - bit should mean that it can read and write to both + and - media.

    And yes, it will read cds. Probably write them too.

    means it can write DVDR9's they are dual layer disks, twice capacity of a normal 4.7gig dvdr
