I am a psychiatric nurse, and have been reading with interest the various postings and replies on this site. I just wanted to comment on the caring, compassionate and common sense responses that have been given. This is a valuable and worthwhile facility and regardless of comments made in the "News of the World", to all the regular respondants, please continue with what you are doing. The only criticism would be towards the tiny majority of people who think it witty and funny to post stupid and immature responses when someone is obviously in need. I only hope when you face one of life's many crisis' that if you need help, you don't receive your own medicine!

I don't buy the News of the World. What comments were made?

thank god for thesite.org!!!!!!!!!!!!
good old 'News of the Screws' - bunch of hypocritical bastards
Hipocrits! (I've just read the article)
If you make something a tabboo, it doesn't solve anything. It's only if you talk about it openly that young people are actually in a position to make informed, mature decisions. People have sex, orgasms, do drugs and all the rest of it.
Whats so bad about refusing to pretend its not happenning. I mean most teenagers or older know what sex is (I hope), they talk about amongst themselves, whats wrong with disscussing it. I think thesite.org is doing a great job, it helps provide serious information to those who need it most, to help make the right decisions. If people are offended by the material on offer at this site then they don't have to read it. Its not a filthy site, its one that helps ppl make choices, and get reasonably confidential advice on tough decisions. News of the world is being stupid in how it's approaching this issue, if thesite was shut down it would just make it harder for ppl to get the advice and info it needs.
Please excuse me, I'm just off to shoot the editor.
Thanks for posting that
but i read in the news of the world all that..
i was well supprised!
i dont see why the.site is a disgrace...
(apart from maybe the odd few that rather slag people off than ask a question that they might like to know the answer for)...
More to the point (or less, depending on what way u look at it) the owner of Just35 doesn't have a clue about kids. I feel sorry for his (if he has any), cos if he thinks that all we talk about is wholesome stuff, he must be joking.
One thing you may or may not be aware of is that Just35 is hoping to become the leading search engine for schools. I laugh at that. But I won't bore you with the reasons. You can do that to me.

TONY'S WEBSITE TURNS THE BLAIR BLUE
By NADIA COHEN
A WEBSITE for teenagers launched by Tony Blair has been banned—for being too BLUE.
The Prime Minister personally endorsed TheSite.org when it first hit the worldwide web in April amid a blaze of publicity, pictured right at launch.
But an online directory has now REFUSED even to list the site after finding it littered with explicit sex details.
Roger Fenton, shocked managing director of the directory Just35.com, declared: “This is not a site for kids. The contents are vulgar and I wouldn’t want any children visiting the site.
“I’m astounded this has been backed by Tony Blair.”
When the Premier was photographed surfing through TheSite.org’s pages at London’s trendy West End nightspot Home he praised its coverage and listings of volunteer opportunities.

Since then youngsters have been taking the opportunity to volunteer red-hot revelations of their love lives and bizarre bedroom antics.
More than 65,000 children a month log on to the site, which is run by charity YouthNet UK and sponsored by BT and Coca Cola.
But parents would be stunned by some of the content.
This month’s tips include an intimately detailed how-to-do-it guide to oral sex.
ONLINE SHOCKER: 'Sex' section with explicit details
Space is also devoted to the most peculiar and nauseating fetishes—including sex with shop dummies.
The site’s mission statement boasts: “We don’t tell anyone how to lead their lives—we just believe everybody should have all the information they need to make the most of things on their own terms.”
But then it brazenly encourages teenagers to write in and tell all with the tease: “TheSite isn’t a grubby little porn site—not yet anyway—but we’d still like to hear what pleasures you.”
Recent stories include ‘My boyfriend wants a helping hand’, ‘He’s a disappointment’ and ‘My boyfriend wants me to get larger breasts’.
Online agony aunts dispense advice such as: “There’s a good reason why a guy may refer to his ‘Crown Jewels’. "For him it’s the most precious bit of his body and something that needs to be handled with great care.”
Girls in a clinch are urged not to behave “like a carrot picker” because it will “get him crying out for all the wrong reasons”.
TheSite.org’s marketing director Jamie Thomas insisted: “The articles we produce can be quite frank so people can digest them.
"Nothing is for the sake of titillation—that’s not what we are about.
"The site is aimed at young adults. It’s not a children’s site and has never pretended to be.”
Despite the rumpus BT and Coca Cola both stood by their decisions to give the site cash.
However, a Downing Street aide told us: “Websites are organic and change. The PM had no problems with what was on the site at the time he was associated with it, but we have no idea what it looks like now.”
Getting young people to talk about sex is a really good idea. If you can't talk about it properly, how can you say NO or WE HAVE TO USE PROTECTION? Meanwhile, the underage pregnancy rate soars...
My best mates step dad died a week ago from taking a herion overdose, he has been doing drugs for 20 years, I brought her on this site and she thought it was great.
Getting people in the know!!!
I totally agree with Spirit - this site is really cool and id be lost without - its great to have a place to speak your views and get advice from all over the country! Also the site does state that information given is just opinions and not facts so whats the problem?! As long as people dont take whats said as textbook its great to here what people have to say!
Problem is with Newspapers like that(right wing bollox) is that they dont know what's going on.
They're written by posh public school idiots who r probably the only section of society who dont know how to get a girl by the age of 10.
Unfortunately there will always be people like that, who think that people dont have sex till 16 and they're in a relationship and drugs r only reserved for societys worst.
As far as I'm concerned they can live in there sheltered little inadequate lives, if they want there children to follow them I'm sure they can pay god knows how many thousands to send their children to Eton or Radley where I would think they have enuff money for their own search engines to 'protect' their children from us commoners.

I've got it here and it does refer to the boards. Says one "contributor wanted to meet girls who like to be watched". but mostly it talks about the "smutty" and "vulgar" content. that's the daily mail for you.
Life is like a beautiful melody, only the lyrics are messed up

What do you think?
Those aged greybeardss who were there at the time of the NOTW article, remember how many visitors got. People know about thesite, they know where they can take their problems, and it didn't cost us a penny. Now if that's not a good deal, what is?
Be good to have some nice punlicity for a change though....
I laughed from start to finish of this article! It was so full of bull! "the only way to deal with subjects like sex and drugs is to ignore that they even exist. If kids know nothing about them, then they won't do them" LOL that is a load of crap!!!!
How can we not hear about sex? We hear it all over the place! A question for the older people of this community. Where did you hear about sex? What knowledge did you have about it? Did you have any idea about safe sex when you was younger?
Basically this Kieren McCarthy thinks we are stupid! "People, especially adults, find it hard to write honestly (and well) about subjects like sex and drugs". Ok we may find it hard to write honestly but putting "and well" in brackets makes us all out to be Dropouts who can't write english.
Just ignore the bad press about TheSite cause we all know what it is really like!
Don't worry Dom we don't think your that much of a Nazi <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/biggrin.gif">

How bloomin wrong is he??
If you don't talk about it they wont do it- Pah!! We'd just have twice as many teen pregnancies as we do now!!
What planet does he think we're on??
I think it's time he woke up........
