last night i fell on a bollard post in the street, as i fell over. it hit into me on the my upper right hand side, above my waist but below my breast. its come up red like a huge bruise. but the entire of that area is hurting like hell whenever i move. besides iceing it - which i've done off and on since last night, what else should i be doing??? - it really hurts! :crying:

it sounds like you've bruised your ribs, it'll be rather sore for a while unfortunately, but doing what you're doing and icing it should encourage the bruising to come up. Just try not to stretch too much, and purhaps buy some painkiller rub in stuff, you can get from the chemists. (I've not used them, so dont now how well they'll work)

Paracetamol and breathing exercises. You may have bruised your ribs.

Otter, sounds like your ribs are bruised, just take it easy, try not to lift anything heavy or do anything too exerting the next few days. Keep up with the pain relief and you should feel a bit more comfortable
i had had a bit to drink but my friend puposefully tripped me over... and owch!
but is that true about the short hand or is it a joke?
