    I would suggest thumbs up myself!! The reason being that if your thumb was down then you would be shoving either your fist or your arm up which I imagine would be extremely painful!! Also, rather than going with the whole thumbs thing, you might want to try it with just the one, or maybe even a finger to start with!!
