Poppers...

Ok, I just wondered what there is to know about them.
When i was much younger (like 15) they seemed to be a cool thing to sniff and as you can get them very easily and cheaply a knew a few people who used them a little, but I've never been into any kind of drugs and never tried them.

However at a party recently i was chatting to this gay guy who told me how apparently they help you have anal sex...now i dont know if thats true or not but he just said that generally they make you feel good, but he was pissed out of his face and so i was just wondering what are the bad points?

I really dont know anything about drugs and i have no idea whether poppers are really dangerous or harmless but i know i can get hold of them very easily and was thinking about experimenting, but before i do i wondered if you guys could give me some info.

poppers are a group of chemicals called alkyl nitrates.

They are the chemicals found in some 'smelling salts' used to revive people.

Poppers do relax the muscles in the anus and cause a 'rush' like effect by creating a sudden rush of blood to the head and heart.

They are used as a sexual aid of the reasons of both relaxing the anus for the purpose of anal sex and the heightened receptiveness to tactile stimulation that some people report from it.

They are considered dangerous for those with heart conditions, blood pressure complaints and are very dangerous when mixed with Viagra (or any of its relatives, Siagra for example)

yes all of the above.

you can get nasty skin reactions around your nasal area too watch out.. i don't think its chemically an irritant, but it sure feels like one sometimes.

I quite like them. They're alright if you're out - they're pretty discreet, give you a bit of a rush when your're dancing etc. But they're not really anything special.
I've tended to stop using them as much because I have an irregular heart beat and palpitations which cause me problems sometimes, especially if I take stimulant drugs.

Too much like a banging headache for my liking.

The only time I've ever really rated them is if I've had them while on pills, but even then it's not altogether that nice - just lifts you to a new level and tended to fuck my head up a bit, leaving me with that 'where the fuck am I?' smacky feeling a few minutes later.

Used to swear by them when I was 13, but they're pointless at the end of the day

Poppers can be great fun in the pub but the novelty wears off very quickly. They're also great if you're already pilled up.

Rather than keep sniffing the bottle and getting a sore nose I prefer to dip an unlit fag in and take pulls on it.

Hurts your nose and gives you a pounding headache. All for a shitty two-second buzz. Not worth it really.

I'd stay away from them. They give you a rush for about 10 seconds. The next day I always have the worst headache.

C'mon you know it's true...

But they are like playing russian headache roulette. It could be the first toot, or the 20th that gets you. :crazyeyes

Inhaling it can hurt your nose though.

Personally, i like them for an odd giggle....like Ants said, someone waggles a bottle at you, it makes you laugh for 10 seconds.
I dont think you can even consider them a drug in the grand scheme of things.

They bring you up when you're on pills.

My mate kept sniffing at a bottle of poppers after tanning loads of shrooms. He said it was fucking amazing, totally spaced him out. I didn't even want to try it at the time, and didn't, primarily because I was so damn mooned anyway.

And yes, they can give you a pounding headache. And make you feel nauseus, particularly if you have been drinking. Too much pain for so little gain.

I had a friend who did them whilst she was drunk, unfortunatley she was lying on the ground at the time and spilt the whole bottle over her face - mmmmm nice burns...

i did them once at a niteclub whilst on pills....holy fuck talk about a rush...went blind for a few seconds...everything was going 90 then it wears off and you get a sore head...load of shite...

well yeah but certain (turlough) people use 'like' as a speech marker as well you know

Yeah. I don't tend to turn them down if offered but I'd never buy them.
