Hi,
I wonder if anyone can guide me in the direction of someone that can help. My mother is an alcoholic, I also beleive her to be depressed. She has a damaged back and can barely walk. My father is ill having suffered two heart attacks and is currently waiting for angeoplasty ( sp).
My mother is very rude, agressive and is upsetting to be with on most occasions, having caused me to restort to temazepam and having time of work with stress in the past.
My father finally broke down at the death threats she makes and the hateful language she uses on Saturday, he found her sat on the stairs in her underwear telling him she was going to kill him.
At the irrational behaviour we called the out of hours surgery gave details and was told we would be contacted. No one called so we called back twice with no contact within an hour.
She began having difficulty breathing so my father called an ambulance, by this time my father was unable to stand due to chest pains and had to remain at home.
My mother on route to hospital began undoing her seatbelt and demanding to smoke, the amublance stopped and they were then escorted to the hospital by the police.
The hospital then ran checks on her and basically advised she was well enough to go home, called the crisis management team to speak with her regarding her problem with alcohol and depression but she again became abusive and they advised they cannot treat her without her consent.
Im very worried about my dad as he is having great difficuly coping but cant leave her alone in case she gets drunk falls asleep and set the house on fire or something similar, also he is worried she may try to carry out her threat to kill him.
Is there anyone either my father or I can contact to attempt to resolve this ?

Maybe you could have a chat with your GP and she what he/she suggests? Also this site has some info on mental health

Other people should be able to give better advice than me tho. Good luck!
First of all, big hugs to you for coping with all this horribleness - it sounds like you've got heaps on your plate right now.
Have a read of this article on living with a drinker - and check out the two orgs (Drinkline and National Association of children of alcoholics) in the Next Steps box - they would be able to offer you the kind of help and support you need right now.
The other people who would be worth contacting would be SANELINE - they have an amazing database of support services that can be matched to the area you live in - it really sounds like you need something for yourself and your dad - please give them a call for some help. Here are the details:
SANELINE
Offers practical information, crisis care and emotional support to anybody affected by mental health problems.
