    What, fundamentalist presbyterianism? It's just a load of wank that cultivates a culture of mistrust against everyone else who doesn't adhere to his strict, insanely narrow view of religion.

    Sadly it was even worse back in 1970s. He once came out with the claim that there was a Jewish-Catholic plot against Northern Ireland. Because naturally they're two ideological bedfellows bent on the destruction of the good Presbyterians of Ulster!

    I'm assuming he was referring to the pope and all things related. Which truly is a very insightful comment from Ian when it comes to describing the Vatican. I read it in the Times supplement the other day in the pub, gave me a good laugh!
