not in this report but in many other they mention its a gay man who admits to promiscuous sex with random strangers

what rhey failed to mention is that in a mroe detailed report i read in a newspaper, he got him self checked every month or so for numerous stds thus if he got it he didnt spread it much if he did at all

sure people get what they are like, but this man was realtively responsible as he took the risk but made sure he did get checked regulary like pornstars do

these diseases are spread by straight people who think "i cant get anything from her/him" cause the person looks clean, which in terms of std means sod all

saw in the newspaper recently that even if someones gay and promiscuous theyre open about whilst straight promiscuous people cause more harm by the secrecy of it all

To be honest, that's not my definition of responsibility. He could have caught it from someone taking exactly the same precautions. Either use protection or abstain, that's the only way to be responsible if you're going to shag around.

Agreed, even if he checked every month that is still the potential to infect several people, completely wreckless.........

Also you are generalising a lot WMP about straight people and gay people, it is silly to suggest that STD's are only spread by straight people with a certain view.......

If he was having casual sex with random strangers then he had an obligation to practise safe sex. Simple as.

Worries me that you think that "not spreading it much" is acceptable.

The diseases are spread by people thinking that getting themself checked frequently is enough. It isn't.

It doesn't matter if you are straight or not, taking precautions is a must.

Sadly too many people have forgotten that.

Don't even get me started on doggers and swingers.

Whilst I agree, I don't think I read that the guy was having unprotected sex. Will go and check it out...

Surely if he was having safe sex, infection wouldn't be an issue?

just a thought...did the more detailed report say whether he was mainlining the meth? more likely smoking but...i just wondered

the one thing i do hate about this, is when people turn round and say 'Its their own fault' for whatever reason, but add 'And i've got no sympathy'....you've gotta be pretty cold hearted or hate someone alot not to have sympathy with an AIDS victim :(

According to an article in the Guardian yesterday, the man had had 'multiple sex partners and unprotected anal sex' in the last couple of years.

However the Guardian article also said that caution must be exercised regarding this new "strain" of HIV- some experts believe it is the patient who is unusual, not the HIV virus he has.

How sorry do you feel for someone who drunk drives, killing themselves in a crash that also kills another two people?

I think the point is that while you have every right to be angry you still should feel a little bad about the loss of life all around, including the driver. Or in this case, dummy who wasn't smart enough to use a condom.

The question was one of sympathy, fair enough i suppose but i feel very little sympathy for drunk druvers who kill themselves and others, a little maybe, but not a lot.......
