next to where i live i have queens market, which is packed with vegetables stalls and meat shops and imported cheap goods like shampoo coca-cola and trainers etc
the local council wants to knock it down and replace it with luxury flats and a asda, when if anyone knows anything about that area its like mini bangladesh, it actually is, but good due to its rather friendly attitude, its lack of chain shops rounf there and really good prices
the councils decided to do this instead of improving lighting
how bloody stupid, giving into big business when its quite clear the one asda will put almost every shop in that area out of business
for once im with the local tories on this since that areas council is labour, and thetories are really opposed to it, as well as all the tradesmen and shops there, and a majority of the local residents
how can the interests of luxury developers and asda be above that of the local comunity, its not like its doing badly or anything
the only 1 flaw there is the amount of illegal bushmeat and offal meat being sold there, but that can be sorted out quite simply if they bothered by better policing

Bushmeat is very dodgy, though.
yeh but that cna sorted out by better policing, all real markets tend to have something dodgy going on in them, it provides the 'local charm'
