What are the symptons of this and is it serious? I have had quite a lot of vaginal discharge and it's been itchy aswell,I'm so scared.

PID is serious but it doesn't sound like you've got it. read this:
    http://www.mckinley.uiuc.edu/health-info/womenhlt/pid.html

i think chlamydia can lead to PID.

it sounds like you might have thrush. if you've had unprotected sex then there's a possibility it could be an STI. although i've never had them so hopefully someone else will comment on that!

best bet is to go to the docs :)

theres something called bacterial vaginosis (i think :/) and that's caused by an imbalance of the healthy bacteria in your vagina causing a lot of discharge. it's fairly common particularly at certain times in your cycle. i can't remember if it clears up on its own but can be cleared with antibiotics anyway.

*not that I've convinced myself I have it or anything* :nervous:
i don't know about the scan. do you have abdominal pain?

ETA: they do a pelvic examination and a blood test to make a diagnosis.
it's also easily treated with antibiotics.
