I'm on penicillin for tonsilitis and the instructions say to take them 'an hour before food, or on an empty stomach'. How important is this? I just forgot to take my tablet before dinner, so I've taken it just now, after dinner. If I waited until my stomach was empty then I wouldn't be able to fit in four doses.

So does anyone know what sort of effects this is supposed to have? Or is it just that they'll be a bit less effective?

    it'll probably be slightly less effective. the food might inhibit the absorption of the drugs. but i wouldn't worry too much about it, as long as you take the rest before food.

    heh, i know loads about health because i'm ill a lot and because i'm a hypochondriac, so anything you guys have, at some point i thought i had it and i researched it :p
