What a good Idea...this would be excelent, not only for the child and the mother but to help fathers bond with their children

    yes its a good idea, but how many people could actually afford to take 6 months off?

    because maternity pay is not much - £100 a week or so (most companies only pay full pay for a couple of months and then only if you have been employed for more than a year) living of 400 a month can't be easy

    Yeah - but most peple who go back to work have to pay creche fees anyway so they'd be £400 out of pocket for that.

    In my case it would make sense for My bloke to take the time off as I earn much more

    I'd rather goto work, TBH.
    How would the family afford to live with BOTH parents off work for 6 months.
    Most families couldn't afford to live with just the dad off work, sexist but most households see the male as the main wage earner.
