Help with Formatting

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
I have got a 20gb hard drive which is partitioned into 2 drives (c and d)

I want to format my c: drive and reinstall xp pro onto it, could you give me some help on how to do this please? Also could you tell me what disks i will need too please?

I sort of know what to do, but i want to be sure, thanx :)

Boot your machine off the Win XP cd, it should run off that and within set up you will get the chance to format it.

Otherwise you would need a DOS boot disk (which you can probably get at www.bootdisk.com ) which you could boot onto and format the c drive from there.

    You will need to -

Make sure you have backups of everything from C that you want to keep. Saves, documents, settings, bookmarks, etc.

Make sure you have drivers for the essential stuff eg graphics card and modem / connection device so that you can get onto the internet if needed to download other stuff.
