As you're all aware, in line with the online safety act, age verification was officially introduced on the Discussion Boards in April. This has allowed us to make sure that all of our users on the Boards are within our age range of 13-25 and helped us to keep the Boards a safe and comfortable space for all. Since then, we have been using the external provider Yoti to securely complete age verification checks on your existing accounts and for any new members joining our Community.
Following this change, it's essential that we now introduce age verification to Chatwee, so that we can be consistent in maintaining the same level of safety in chats as we have on the Discussion Boards. This will work in the same way, in that you will be required to complete a face-scan which Yoti will use to estimate your age, before permanently deleting your image. Alternatively, this can be completed by downloading the Yoti app and setting up a digital ID using the QR code generated by Yoti that links your age verification result with us. Either of these methods are acceptable.
We are expecting this change to take place on Chatwee on Tuesday the 11th of August 2026 . On your first log-in to Chatwee after this goes live, you will be prompted to complete age verification. Once this is completed, your account is then verified and you won't be asked to do this again.
