The last night of boards

So, the Mix is going to be closing boards at nights tomorrow, which means that there's going to be no more night time support or community talks at night, which i know is gonna be a big blow to a lot of people. And i know a lot of people are going to be leaving with these changes that come into effect, and for some, it might be there last few days here. It'll also be the last night time on boards tonight.

When i first made the venting threads before they got switched into a weekly thread, i used to be on it at nights mostly, along with a few other users, and we ended up getting nicknamed the midnight crew.

And so i thought, let's have one final last hurrah, just for tonight, before boards closes at night time's for good. So whatever you want to talk about for tonight, feel free to vent, or chat about whatever stuff you want 😂

i've only just joined the forums but it feels like such a shame that a lot of big things like the boards closing at night & posts needing approval before they're viewable are coming in to place. i understand that it's because themix have certain obligations but. yeah it's a shame
Signing on for midnight crew duty, i guess for one last time.
Back in 2020 during covid when the general chit chat thread was new, we used to chat on it till silly o’clock at night. Most of those users have long since aged out or moved on, but we used to call these nights boards parties. Some incredible memories, and its safe to say my post count would be nowhere near what it is without those boards parties.
You’re not wrong @thetiefling it truly is a real shame. I’ve been here for 10 years and there have been a lot of changes in that time, but this is the biggest yet. I find it a shame that you won’t really get to experience the things myself and @Nathan have mentioned (unless you come to chat, of course)
@independent_ it really is a shame, cause overnight times are the only time some people are able to spend time here. Still, we might as well make the most of the time we've got left.
Random question. Why is Greenland called Greenland when it's mostly ice, and why is Iceland called Iceland when it's mostly green?
@Nathan for sure, so many people can’t access the boards during the day for whatever reason, and may not be able to come to chats due to other things going on in their lives. Lots of people only get time to sit down even at this time of night.
I don’t know the answer to that question but I’m loving the questions really makes you think

why are buffalo wings made of chicken and not buffalo?
this is one of my worries. i understand that there are a lot of overnight services for people with mental health struggles but there's a preestablished community & support system here that's being ripped away. not everybody is going to be able to just move over to an alternative service. not everybody feels comfortable to, and most other services do not have the same kind've community & culture as this one. real shame
can say i was apart of the nighttime crew. 🫡

@thetiefling i fully agree, it is so hard to move elsewhere. Every community is slightly different, and when you’re used to one it’s really hard to just adapt to somewhere else because you’re right, everywhere has slightly different guidelines and a different culture. And I think people feel comfortable here because they know the staff as well and if there’s ever a problem, you pretty much know you won’t ever be told off for raising it as an issue, whereas i have experienced this on other places over the years.

@Nathan Greenland got its name from the Viking Erik the Red, who wanted to attract settlers by giving it a pleasant-sounding name (though I think southern areas do turn more green in warmer periods). Iceland was named more literally by early Norse explorers who saw icy fjords and harsh conditions when they arrived, so the name reflected what they experienced at the time.
And buffalo wings are named after Buffalo, New York where they were created in the mid 1960s.

If the boards closure had been announced tomorrow we would have seriously had to ask if it was an April fool!
My sister once painted our bar of soap in the shower with clear nail varnish for April fools day so it wouldn’t work 🤣 has anyone ever had any good April fools pranks played on them?
