An update about the 'I need a hug' thread

Hey everyone,
We wanted to share an update about the 'I need a hug' thread.
Some of you may remember that we re-launched this thread earlier this year because we were seeing the original space becoming quite heavy and being used more and more for crisis posting. This was nobody's fault, more people are in crisis more often these days and we recognise how helpful it can be to have a space to post in those most difficult moments.
One of there reasons why we re-launched this thread is because we can't provide crisis support here on our discussion boards. We're not trained to support someone in crisis and it can also be unsafe to post in this way when using group spaces where other people may also start to feel unsafe. That's why we'd always encourage you to reach out to specialist services who are trained to offer crisis support such as Samaritans, Crisis Messenger and Papyrus.
While we introduced new guidance to help everyone post in a way that was safer, we’ve noticed over the past couple of months the posts are shifting more to crisis posting again. We feel this thread isn't effectively helping you get the support you need or connect with the right services, so we have decided to close it from today.
Our goal for our community spaces is to create places that provide meaningful support and help you in the best ways possible which we feel this thread isn’t able to do.
If you'd like a space to explore your feelings, we encourage you to post in our journaling space thread, which is designed to help you reflect on your emotions and discover ways to care for yourself.
If you’d like to share any thoughts or feedback with us, please do reach out to us via DM or through the feedback form. Thank you all for your understanding
