🟩 Support Group Break (April 8 - 21)

What is a Support Group break?
Roughly three times a year, we have a week (or two) where we take a break from running group chats.

These breaks allow staff, volunteers, and you guys to take a breather. If you use Support Groups often, breaks are a good opportunity to try new services and expand your support network. :)

When we can, we also use these periods to review community feedback, reflect on how things are going in the community, and look what we might want to work on next.

When are they?
Typically, there is a break around January, May, and September.

When is the next break?
The next break will be from Monday 8th April - Sunday 21st April.

This break will include support groups and Friday chat threads. The usual Support Group schedule will resume on Monday 22nd (head over to our Support Group calendar for more information).

Support Circle for Survivors of Sexual Violence will still be running on Thursday 11th and 18th of April. You can read more about these sessions here.

There may be a Community Quiz! Keep an eye out for an announcement about that. 👀

Where can I go instead?
These discussion boards will be open as normal, 24/7.

    You're right @independent_ that the notice is sometimes a bit longer (2 weeks rather than 1) but it varies a little bit - I don't think we have a consistent announcement period.

    But that's definitely something we can bring in. Thanks for the suggestion. :)

    I should say: it depends a bit on internal capacity for the staff team. Sometimes plans are cemented earlier or later and that can affect when we announce breaks.

    They'll always be around roughly the same time (Jan, April/May, Sept) :) but we can still try to announce breaks more in advance if that's helpful for you guys

    They used to be @FordRanger, but we decided to stop doing them to give all our moderators the same break over those couple of weeks. That said, you're welcome to create your own. :)

    Just bumping this as a reminder that our 2-week break starts today (this includes support groups and Friday chat threads). The usual schedule will resume on Monday 22nd April. :)

    Our Support Group for Survivors of Sexual Violence is still running on the 11th and 18th of April, so please see here if you're interested in coming along. :)

    Is there still gonna be a quiz? Usually there's an announcement by now so has this changed/is there not gonna be a quiz?

    We'd love to still run a quiz, we'll all be back together as a team tomorrow so we'll keep you all updated about when it will be soon :)
    Maybe somethings don't get better, but we do. We get stronger. We learn to live with our situations as messy and ugly as they are. We fix what we can and we adapt to what we can't. Maybe some of us will never fully be okay, but at least we're here. We're still trying. We're doing the best we can. That's worth celebrating too ❤
