Heyy everyone,

This time of year can be a difficult time for many of us and self-care can be really important to find time to do each day. I posted a similar challenge a few years ago and thought it would be great to bring back this year <3

This self-care challenge is like an advent calendar, so each day you can click the spoiler to find out what self-care activity you can do each day in December. Comment below after each day to share what self-care activity you've done and how it helped you :)

1st December
Make a list of 3 things you do to relax. Plan some time to do these things this week.

2nd December
Write down three things you're proud of - you can comment below on this thread or write them down on a piece of paper.

3rd December
Spend some time outside such as going for a 10-minute walk.

4th December
Be creative - take some time to draw, write, decorate or anything that helps you feel creative!

5th December
You're doing so well. Take some time to recognise your achievements today.

6th December
Write down how you're feeling (start a discussion on the community or write on paper) - writing out how you're feeling can be a good form of self-care.

7th December
Take some time to read something you're interested in such as an article on our website or a new book.

8th December
Try out some meditation or yoga. There are some great videos on YouTube that can give you some guidance.

9th December
Watch your favourite movie.

10th December
Call or text a friend or family member and say hi.

11th December
Listen to some music. You may like to listen to the Christmas playlist that is being created by the community.

12th December
Do some baking! Post a photo of what you ended up baking!

13th December
Let yourself sleep in an extra hour. This is your day today and it's okay to rest.

14th December
Enjoy a spa day at home!

15th December
Cook your favourite meal today.

16th December
Write down 3 things that you're grateful for.

17th December
Declutter your room - a tidy space can make a difference!

18th December
Set yourself a mini goal for 2022.

19th December
Unplug for an hour - switch everything to airplane mode and take some time away from social media.

20th December
Welcome someone new to the community - your kindness goes a long way.

21st December
Create your own playlist of songs that help you when you're struggling.

22nd December
Read out some positive affirmations today. You might like to try some in this positive affirmations thread.

23rd December
Watch a new movie.

24th December
Read the comments on the community's Christmas Kindness thread - there's some lovely supportive posts in there.

25th December
Be kind to yourself all day today because you deserve kindness.

26th December
Watch the sunset - don't take any photos just watch it and be present in the moment.

27th December
Try something new today that you've always wanted to do.

28th December
Chat to the community in the General Chit chat thread.

29th December
Read a positive quote to help you today. Comment below which one you read.

30th December
Another reminder today that you're doing so well! Keep going and be kind to yourself today.

31st December
Reflect back on this year. Write down 3 things that you're proud of and celebrate them today because you're doing so well!

I hope you enjoy this challenge. Comment below what days you take part in :)
Maybe somethings don't get better, but we do. We get stronger. We learn to live with our situations as messy and ugly as they are. We fix what we can and we adapt to what we can't. Maybe some of us will never fully be okay, but at least we're here. We're still trying. We're doing the best we can. That's worth celebrating too ❤

@Aife This is such a wonderful thread! Thank you so much for this, it's so unbelievably kind and thoughtful of you! I am really excited to start!

Day one: Three things that helps me relax include: spending time to read, laying on the sofa with a blanket and some candles, binging my favourite tv shows or watching Harry Potter, and trying to move my body in some way at least once a day!

Day two: Three things I'm proud of:
1- The fact I'm really pushing myself to do things I wouldn't have done last year
2-How far I've come in my recovery journey with my mental health, particularly when it's mostly been me on my own!
3- I've been able to raise £200 for two different mental health charities this year through pushing myself out of my comfort zone to walk 100 miles this year :)

    Hi @Aife

I really appreciate this thread too. I think we can all relate that December is a stressful month. However, this thread encourages us to take care of ourselves.

Thanks also @Brookee for sharing your responses! :3
