Expert chat: Sex, relationships & consent (Tuesday 27th of February)
Want to ask some questions about sex, relationships or consent?
Who'll be running the session?
Our expert will be George. Here's a bit about him...
George is the current Externals Director and is a medical student and has been involved with (and co-ordinated) Sexpression at his university for 4 years. He has enjoyed delivering sessions in schools, as well as training up volunteers and working with the university and local organisations. Now he's building on our relationships with Sexpression:UK's partner organisations, co-ordinating media and press relationships and working with the trustees. He represents Sexpression:UK in Parliament, at working groups, in the media and at national events, and looks forward to continuing this work in the future.
And a bit more about Sexpression...
Sexpression:UK wrote:Sexpression:UK is a student-led independent charity that empowers young people to make decisions about sex and relationships by running informal and comprehensive SRE in the community. Sexpression:UK aims for a society in which young people are able to access reliable information about relationships, sex and sexuality; where youth are free from STIs, and unwanted pregnancy; and where they are empowered to make individual, informed decisions regarding their bodies and their health.
When is this happening?
The chat will run on Tuesday 27th February from 6:30pm to 8pm. If you can, please try to come for the full session.
What will the chat be about?
George will be answering questions and starting discussions around the subject of consent, and also sex and relationships more broadly. If you have any queries about sex and relationships education, this would be a great time to ask those as well.
How will the chat work?
Like all expert chats, this will be open to everyone. The moderator will ask the room who has a question and then ask you to take it in turns to put them to our expert. You'll also be more than welcome to chip in by sharing experiences and ideas that might be helpful to others.
You will be able to log in as normal on the night in the usual place: http://www.themix.org.uk/get-support/group-chat
What if I can't make it?
If you have any questions for George, feel free to send them to us via private message in advance. We can make sure they get asked on the night.
As part of The Mix's month-long Consent series, we've released an article about struggling to be intimate after rape. You can read it here.
