Expert Chat: Enthusiastic Consent & Conditional Consent (Wed 21st February)
Want to ask some questions about consent?
Who'll be running the session?
Our expert will be Sarah Beilfuss. Sarah is the co-founder of Scarlet Ladies, a community of women with the aim to destigmatise and normalise the conversation around female sexuality.
Suffering from post traumatic stress disorder after experiencing a number of traumas, including rape, Sarah is reclaiming her body by engaging in bodybuilding and powerlifting. Taking back control of her sexuality, she is currently remaining abstinent. Working and campaigning with other women for the sexual empowerment of women has been an integral part of her healing journey.
When is this happening?
The chat will run on Wednesday 21st February from 6:30pm to 8pm. If you can, please try to come for the full session.
What will the chat be about?
Sarah will be talking about Enthusiastic Consent (rather than just saying 'alright then') and Conditional Consent (e.g I will have sex with you with a condom, but if there is no condom I do not want to have sex).
How will the chat work?
Like all expert chats, this will be open to everyone. The moderator will ask the room who has a question and then ask you to take it in turns to put them to our expert. You'll also be more than welcome to chip in by sharing experiences and ideas that might be helpful to others.
You will be able to log in as normal on the night in the usual place: http://www.themix.org.uk/get-support/group-chat
What if I can't make it?
If you have any questions for Sarah, feel free to send them to us via private message in advance. We can make sure they get asked on the night.
As part of The Mix's month on Consent series, we've released an article about struggling to be intimate after rape. You can read it here.
