Occupational health

Hello
Ive got to have an occupational health assessment from work now to pass probation for adjustments etc however ive bern triggered from it just the thought of I t upcoming and it being a male assessor. Its freaking me out ive cried for 2hrs over it

My manger was going to call me yesterday to ho through something and I couldn't even handle him calling me without it shaking me to bits because ive been so triggered from it. I had to ask if I could speak to service manager instead as she a female. She asked me why I wanted to talk to her and it came out ive been triggered and couldn't besr to hear a males voice. She laughed at first but I ended up laughing as I said it because im stupid enough to laugh at wrong times but then she was fine about it and is going to see what she can do in getting it changed and not worrying over it being later.
But the problem is I'm very busy from start of November so I domt have availability unless it i take a whole day off work.

    hey @Invisible_me 🙂

that sounds like such a tough situation and it’s completely understandable that you’re feeling overwhelmed and triggered, especially with so much pressure from work on top of it! you did the right thing by speaking up and asking for a female instead if that is something that you find more comfortable - that’s not silly at all, it’s self-advocacy. i’m really glad your manager was understanding in the end - you deserve to have someone who is understanding and supportive!

i really hope that it all goes ok for you, and remember, we’re all here for you <3

Ithanks for repky @shannon_164 . She emailed me to say shes spoken to them, theyve rearranged to 3 weeks time. Its later than thy want but she said if its goingbto to trigger you its not worth putting yourself through that stress so later id better if it means I'm going to be a bit more relaxed about it. It doesn't solve it but atleast thsy anxiety od speaking to male has been sorted. My manager knows its caused me stress and knows ive obviouslu spoken to his manager about it because his been copied into a email that the service manager sent me saying ive contacted them , I just hope he doesn't know the reason is because I'm scared of males! His a male himself my manager is 🤨. Hopefully they didn't think it sounded silly!!
The thibg is its for my autism anyway so its not even for a ,"female related problem " but it just triggers me.

i was that triggered i couldn't bear the thought of my manager calling me so i had to say to him nothing personal but i want to speak to your manager instead (he seemed okay he just said ill ask her to call you), she did and she was like why did you want to speak to me o said because i didn't want to hear a males and she made that initial laugh which has stated with me!
