physical activity

so i was talking to my care coordinator and my counsellor at camhs today and they recommended me to join disability sports activities. so i was like sure, ill have a look at the links they sent me to do with disability sports. bare in mind that i have cerebral palsy so i cant really do much in terms of physical activity therefore everything has to be accessible for me. my care coordinator said that i have to try at least two activities so i promised him that i would and even gave him a handshake for me to fulfill that promise. so the first activity i was thinking to do an induction on adapted cycling to try it out and see how i go. i used to like cycling on my tricycle when i was younger (maybe around 8-10ish) so that would suit my needs very well. so about an hour ago my dad booked in the last available slot for me to go on that event and im very excited to go there to be honest. however, id have to miss my volunteering in the school library since the induction starts at 10am and finishes at 11am and my volunteering in the school library starts at 11am therefore i wont be able to make it on time. but thats ok, ill just say that im sick or something. if i like it i asked my dad if i could go there to that park where theyre hosting the event there once a month. i cant go there more often since its like a half an hour drive away from my house so it would be a hassle for my dad to take me there every week. and plus you have to pay like £15 for the induction and £6.30 to ride on a bike/adapted bike so the costs would add up. for the second activity im thinking of doing wheelchair bowling but the problem with that is that i only occasionally use a wheelchair when i have to travel long distances therefore i dont know if id be allowed to go there since i use a walking frame for short distances instead of a wheelchair. so i just emailed them asking if i could join despite that issue. so unless if they say no my two activities are sorted. im going to the park to do the induction on the 6th of may and i think ill enjoy it very much. ill update everyone on this thread to see how it goes.

@toffuna101 that all sounds interesting, worth miss volunteering for that, it all sounds fun, I understand it's hassle for your dad and expensive fully adding up, relatable to me myself, it's thoughtful you're thinking about him. The wheelchair bowling sounds great too. Both sounds like exciting activities, hopefully they say yes because they are both fun and exercise at the same time. I hope you have a good time.

    Hi Toffuna!

It sounds super positive that you've been so receptive to what they have said and gone out of your way to fulfil your promise. It all sounds really exciting too, and I hope that it all works out and you are allowed to participate in the wheelchair bowling because bowling is super fun.

Sounds a tiny bit frustrating that it is a bit too close to the time of your volunteering but it seems like you have that all sorted in your head and hopefully the cycling will be worth missing the volunteering hehe. Seems worth it especially because it has so many positive memories for you from your childhood!

What would you like to do instead if they do come back and say the wheelchair bowling isn't suitable for you?

Thank you for saying you'll update the thread, we'd all love to hear for sure!

@Leyla i have no clue if they get back to me and say no. ill probably look into walking if they do say no but then again i cant walk long distances so that will be hard for me to get into especially as i stopped walking due to my soft tissue injury.

im looking into learning how to row now since i doubt the person whos organising wheelchair bowling will reply. but damn it costs a lot of money for adults. i dont know what the cost for under 18s is though. hopefully itll be cheaper because i emailed the captain of the rowing club to ask a few questions about it.
