Can access chats ATM because I'm still banned from it when I was on break. I've also heard of the yoti fine, what was is about?

  • independent_independent_ Community Connector Posts: 10,173 An Original Mixlorian

@so_very_tired it was to do with data being used improperly basically, Iโ€™m sure someone else could explain it better than I can.

Your chat ban will presumably be lifted today if youโ€™re off your break now, so you should be able to get in soon.

@so_very_tired i wrote about it a bit in a post on the community update thread. Essentially, Yoti got fined under GDPR laws. Specifically for breaching article 9 (unlawful biometric processing), article 5.1(e) (excessive data retention), and article 7 (invalid consent). Now, a few disclaimers, it applied only to the digital ID app from my understanding and Yoti are currently appealing the ruling, but given the importance of data protection, the Mix want to be 100% certain there's no new risks given that recent development, and so delayed it to get legal advice on the matter. Which, i have to say, huge credit to the mix for. They took the new developments seriously, and paused the rollout until they are certain everything is fully GDPR compliant and safe, from my understanding, which tells me they are 100% serious about data protection.

I'll post a link here for more information about the yoti fine: https://www.dataguidance.com/news/spain-aepd-fines-yoti-eu950000-unlawful-processing

I have no idea what any of that means, but I think I get the idea.

    maybe but its still confusing.

yeah its crazy how you need to do so much just to get a volunteering role.

I understand the changes are tough @so_very_tired you definitely aren't alone with that

  • RedemptionRedemption Community Connector Posts: 6,960 Master Poster

Yh, Some paid jobs are easier to get than volunteering @toffuna101 like woah

  • so_very_tiredso_very_tired Posts: 1,116 Wise Owl

A big problem with these changes is that I can't stay after these changes are implemented even if I wanted to. I have no ID that I can use to verify my age and I can't get one either because I have no passport and I don't have access to my birth certificate and I have a feeling I'm not the only one either.

Yh you aren't bro, like id is expensive like a passport is ยฃ100 ish which can be hard to get hold of these days but I think theres alternatives if you don't have ID or can't afford it. I hope you can get sorted with something coz i missed you, we can keep in touch on side by side though, i tried to message you there BTW bro

I know off the PASS card that should work with yoti and it's only ยฃ15, but I need some for of ID to make that work like a passport or a birth certificate, both of which I don't have either because I don't have one or my family won't give it to me. Also, why couldn't you contact me on Side by Side? Do you need my profile because I can post it on here for you. Also, I really missed our chats and I'm glad we can have them again.

I think I went to British Heart foundation to try to volunteer in a shop where my programme was at the time, they wanted multiple referees, its a bit ridiculous, also charity shops can be a bit hit and miss on how they treat you, I didnt feel like I had the best experience at mine, it wasnโ€™t British heart foundation in the end, they didn't get back to me which is a bummer but I did it a different place, charity shop, so grumpy and I wasn't appreciated I felt. I'd have to get up and drive to the place, Im not a morning person too, then work for free and I felt like I wasnโ€™t getting anything from it, if anything just negativity like it kinda was hurtful to confidence as I felt like me and work wasn't valued enough to get paid. The place used to be a farm foods yearrrs ago , I didn't expect to be there 20 plus years later (im so old lol) working for free. Anyway, them days are over, I was gonna say hopefully but I think they are pretty much. Hopefully its uphill for both of us.

Hey @eylah iโ€™m ok ta, Iโ€™m exhausted now, Iโ€™ve been out to the shop today to get my sister a birthday card and Iโ€™ve hoovered half the house (just downstairs, the cordless hoover doesnโ€™t go all the way round without a charge).

How are you? Iโ€™m sorry to hear your back is hurting, is it feeling any better?

Reluctantly went into Asda today and I have a feeling I will have a wrap day. BTW for people who didn't attend yesterday's chat, I'm not going to get paid work by June so that's nice.
