Thinking of learning how to Drive

Recently I started thinking that it is about time I start to learn how to drive. One of the reasons why I want to learn is because often some of the jobs I have been applying for or well trying to apply for often ask for a full driver's license which I haven't got at the moment nor a provisional license. Ideally, I wish I started to learn how to drive when I turned seventeen because I feel like it would have made things much more easier for me now. I know also because of my age I won't have a lot of time left to learn so I am going to try and learn as soon as I can because it will only open up more doors for me.

I guess what I am saying is that I always favoured and wanted independence and when I mean independence I mean being able to do things that everyone else can do without having limitations. As someone with both autism and ADHD, I've always been in two minds about whether learning to drive would be ideal. I remember when I was much younger and I wanted to learn how to fly planes then I realised I don't think because of my ADHD I would be allowed to learn sadly, though properly is safer for me not to. The reason being, I struggle a lot with concentration and focus although I am learning techniques currently to help me improve my focus especially hand-eye coordination which is something that doesn't come as easily to me. I often felt that me driving woulden't be a good idea because I often feared either crashing my car, speeding or causing a crash, (you should see me driving in video games to be fair especially Mario Kart 8 though driving in video games is very different to real life driving). I will be honest in reality I would be quite sensible to be fair especially on the road because I'd rather stay safe than take a risk that could result in a bad outcome. I think another reason why I've been put off learning is because of the uncertainity of people on the road, especially those who overtake etc.

I don't whether anyone is learning how to drive at the moment or is a driver and I was wondering what tips would you give to someone who is potentially going to be getting their provisional to initially start learning how to drive.
