My psychologist thinks I have inattentive ADHD but he said because I have just had the diagnosis of C-ptsd that he wants to make it my decision weather I want to get a diagnosis he said to look into it and see some of the traits to it so I have and yeah I resonate with it but what can people do if i am diagnosed, irl if you have adhd it’s all about the hyperactivity so surely if i have inattentive adhd nothing will be done right?
Sometimes when the people most like you don't love you, it is a hurt that can cause the greatest pain, and this pain can lead you to hate everything.

    hey @Rose113 🙂

that’s a lot to process, and i totally get why you’re feeling uncertain about it! firstly, it’s great that your psychologist is giving you the space to make this decision for yourself. if you resonate with inattentive adhd traits, it might be worth exploring further, especially since it can overlap with c-ptsd in some ways.

i get why you’re worried about whether anything will actually change if you get diagnosed. adhd, especially the inattentive type, can be overlooked because people often associate it with hyperactivity, but that doesn’t mean support isn’t available. a diagnosis could open doors to things like counselling that is tailored for adhd, medication (if that’s something you’d want to try), and workplace or educational accommodations. even just having a diagnosis can be validating, it helps you understand yourself better and gives you more language to explain what you’re experiencing.

at the end of the day, it’s completely your choice. there is no pressure either way, but if you think a diagnosis could help you access the right support or just make sense of things, it might be worth looking into. either way, we are all here for you <3

just wanted to echo what Shannon has said. it's good that you're having a good think about it and considering if a diagnosis is something you want to potentially get (given criteria and stuff). like the post above says, there will be support available for you more than likely if is diagnosis is given to you. it's more than likely that they'll work with you to see how best accomodate the particular traits you show in the assessment and stuff like that.

but at the end of the day, it is up to you to decide if it is a path you want to go down, and we will all support you either way with your decision :3
