Shopping anxiety

Hello.

I have noticed that I get overwhelmed when I need new clothes and have to choose. I am not alone with this experience, but it has brought me down this evening. I know that what counts most is that I enjoy dressing in blue and that I cannot dress for others. However, I have become self-conscious about my clothes choices due to hearing comments like "I wear too much blue" and similar remarks. It is possible that that the comment was meant as a suggestion but it came across as an insult. Even so, the comment made me feel upset and pressured. I thought a friend would ask me, “Really?” when I chose my garments, but the friend probably would leave me to decide.

I only bought a few clothes because I was uncomfortable with getting more. So, I felt regretful, but I did well in shopping, and trying to get some clothes, which is excellent.

All in all, though, I have found the process of purchasing new clothing to be stressful. This situation has left me feeling hopeless, even though it is possible to overcome it. It will take some time to tackle my issue, which is okay. I am doing the best that I can.

I have thought this predicament is not the kind of thing to message this community about because it is basic. Still, the majority are unlikely to agree as they are already there to listen to any issue.

It’s true that we’re here to listen to anything 😊

Shopping for clothes honestly causes me a lot of anxiety too. I want to just look the same as everyone else and not stand out in any way.

I don’t know what’s wrong with wearing blue! I wear slight variations of the same outfit every day and nobody says anything lol. It sucks that people have pointed out your clothes like that. I dont know about other people but i know I hardly notice what people are wearing unless it’s something really extravagant, and in that case I’ll probably just think it’s cool.

A friend who wants to choose your clothes for you isn’t a very good friend. That’s a lot of control to have over someone.

Well done for going and getting some clothes! I think it will get easier for you over time, and hopefully people won’t make unpleasant comments. But it’s not you that’s the issue if they do. Your clothes shouldn’t matter so much to someone else, it’s honestly weird if they care that much lol.
