Hey everyone, how has September been for you?
I’m back again for the monthly achievement check-ins! I’d love to hear what you all achieved this September – feel free to write as many achievements as you like, and these can take any shape or form! You’re all doing so well, and I hope these monthly threads help you in some way
My achievements this month:
- I passed my driving test on my second attempt – I’m so glad that I failed the first time and learned to never give up after my failure, the success felt so much more rewarding!
- Devoted lots of time to self-care and treating my eczema – my neck and hands are getting so much better which I’m so happy about
- Went to a lab meeting surrounded with psychology faculty and PhD students which was really scary, but I’m so glad I made a start to attending these fortnightly sessions
- Started uni again and got back into the habit of studying!
As for this month’s theme, there was happiness at work week (https://internationalweekofhappinessatwork.com/) and world suicide prevention day on the 10th (https://www.samaritans.org/support-us/campaign/world-suicide-prevention-day/) – in relation to this, what are some things/experiences you’ve learned in life that help you get by the difficult days? This can be anything like listening to your favourite music playlists, resonating with book quotes, or a nice experience you’d like to share.
For me, what really helps me get by is by remembering that all experiences – good and bad, are temporary. This helps me appreciate the good moments I have and not take them for granted, and also helps me have patience on my bad days since I remember that everything will get better eventually
You’re all doing an incredible job for getting through this month – I hope everyone has a good October!

- i managed to donate to mind, a mental health charity
- i managed to get the courage to email samaritans
- i started to apply for jobs
- i started sixth form
1. I continued to apply for jobs despite getting many rejections
2. I continued going to my local neurodiversity hub
3. I started getting into puzzles thanks to an amazing friend who helped me learn them
And listening to music is such a great way to get past the difficult days - what kind of music do you like to listen to?
@Amy22, I'm really proud of you, you're doing so well! Honestly the process for finding a job is so difficult - I've been rejected plenty of times as well. Allow yourself to feel disappointed, what's important is that you pick yourself back up again, and this is what you're doing which is amazing! I'm sure you'll end up getting a job eventually with your perseverance how has it been at your local neurodiversity hub? And puzzles are really cool, I personally like playing sudoku! What kind of puzzles did your friend introduce to you?
so proud of you!
thank you
Aw thank you so much. My local neurodiversity hub is brilliant because it gets me to go out and have a routine so I'm away from being online and on computers which is good for me because I am addicted to social media I'm ngl 😂. However its really lovely there because I made a lot of new friends and recently my friend have been bringing her support dog with her and I get to see her too. My friends dog is lovely!. Ooo I love puzzles now I'm hooked onto them. I can kind of do arrow words, crosswords, word searches, number searches. I struggle with sudoku and my friend showed me how to do it in the hub. He hosts the coffee morning I go to and he's been teaching me to do puzzles like that. I also did a word fit there as well and I find I'm quite good at doing word fits actually because you have to really think about where each word fits. The trick I do is to count the number of letters and if there's a letter then I try to locate it on the list. My friend taught me to count the letters because thats his technique but i kind of picksd it up suddenly 😂.
Puzzles are sooo addictive hahah, crosswords, word searches and word fits are so much fun - it's awesome that you're getting good at them now! This sounds like a good way to spend the morning!
