Adhd meds are working and im actually able to do stuff ^-^

Recently i decided to self medicate. Im not officially diagnosed with adhd due to the fact that i was denied a diagnosis due to superficial reasons. I almost got it though. But that’s not the point

Due to school starting(I struggle with focusing so badly there, to the point of me almost getting expelled from my advanced math classes :,0) , i finally decided to try and take some medicine myself, without doctors supervision. It’s easy where l live, because most medicine is sold freely (no prescription needed). Ik that that’s wrong and risky but i did it very carefully, don’t worry. I slowly increased the dose to a recommended one and was very careful with my physical state.

Now that i do it im finally being able to get my life together. I just did my homework first time in 2 school years!! Im so happy honestly. My memory, executive functioning, attention are improved. It also helped with hyperactivity a little bit. Now my mind is not hazy all the time. Like, I might actually survive school. It also improved my sleep.

Hi @dZhenGa , I hope you are alright.

It sounds like you had a difficult time trying to get a diagnosis for ADHD. It is a very lengthy process, however if you are having concerns then it would be best to try and speak to your local gp/doctor about it. Remember, do NOT self diagnose but instead try to gain a better understanding as to why you could be behaving in certain ways etc! This could be through referral of a GP to an ADHD assessment (which is a long term fix), or you can self-refer for counselling online (quick and easy process).

In regards to the medication, please be very careful.
ADHD medications need careful monitoring, so from my own personal advice, I would advise you not to take them without supervision of a doctor or pharmacist.

I'm a future pharmacist here- not fully trained, however enough experience to tell you to be careful!

It is great that believe you are feeling better, however remember these medications do have side effects.

First line of treatment for ADHD is usually CBT/therapy. If your signs/symptoms escalate you may be referred for medication - however this is ONLY on supervision of a GP.

I hope you understand that I am just looking out for you!

I'm really glad to hear that you've been able to find some relief and improvement in areas you've been struggling with for so long @dZhenGa. It sounds like school has been overwhelming, and it's nice to see you making progress.

However, I do want to gently urge you to consider the potential risks of self-medicating, even when you're being careful. Medications, especially those for conditions like ADHD, can affect different people in unexpected ways. While things seem to be going well right now, without medical supervision, it's difficult to know if the medication is fully safe for you in the long term. Dosage, side effects, and interactions with your body are all things that a healthcare professional can monitor and adjust as needed.

Would it be possible to find a doctor, or pharmacist, or specialist who could work with you on medication and treatment options, even if it means seeking a second opinion? Having someone guide you through this process could help ensure that the benefits you're feeling can last safely. <3
