What if I'd lost everything this evening?

I dint know where to put this or how much i can say but...

This evening I had a really scary experience. I decided to go out for a surf as I've been feeling pretty discouraged about it. I was however taken under and caught in a really strong current pulling me towards a load of unsafe rocks which left me trying to fight my way out of it as I couldn't get to my board to use it as a support. Eventually I had to realise me panicking was making it worse so I calmed myself down and managed to get to shore physically unharmed.

I truly am trying to stay positive but I just can't sleep. I was so so scared :( what if it was even worse and I wasn't able to get myself to shore? What if I'd actually drowned?
No one had noticed that I'd got into trouble so I just can't help but think how different it could've been. I was so scared. I felt like I had to pick myself up and pretend it was all okay tho. I didn't even tell my dad either. I don't know. I'm still in the processing stage of it all :/

Hi @Chloe234 - first of all, i'm glad to hear you're safe and okay.

I can imagine it was quite the shock to the system to go through that, and so how you're feeling is completely understandable. Whilst our minds almost naturally go to the what if's when things like this happens, what is important is the fact things didn't take a turn for the worse. You managed to stay composed and get back out of the water, and for that I'm super proud of you.

Try and take the time you need to process what happened to you and remember you are strong and amazing, and we are here to support you however you need (as always).

Sending you a big warm hug
    Sinead

Hello @Chloe234 . I hope you are feeling a little better, as said above, it is good that you are safe.
I understand that you may be feeling stressed and slightly anxious, however remember that these things are learning experiences! Next time, you may decide to do something differently, to avoid an outcome like this.
I am sure it may have been frightening, however it is good that you are safe.
