If you're choosing not to vote this year: why?

Howdy everyone! I hope you're having an okay day. I went on a walk through the woods earlier today and there were so many baby birds in the pond. That's not relevant to this, it was just cute.

If you're choosing not to vote this year, why is that?

No judgement - lots of people either don't vote at all or spoil their ballot instead of choosing someone, so I'm curious to understand what the barriers are for y'all.

. Aww thats so sweet, I love baby ducks and animals. Where I did my work placement there was a small river which was nearby the docks and there were baby Canadian geese and they would literally swim to you and quack for food

. I'd have to tell them with such disappoint I didnt have any bread or seed for them. One day though I did feed them but they went mental fighting over the food haha. It was literally like The Hunger Games (literally!). Anyway moving on from adorable ducks and wildlife I'm glad you posted a thread on this because I personally feel like a lot more people this year may not vote especially younger people. However, I do believe that will be a lot more tatical voting this year, primarily to get the torries out of parliment because personally they have done their time and someone new needs to step in and take the reigns.

At the moment I am undecided and I woulden't say that I am quite political personally eventhough I feel like I do lean more left in politics generally because I tend to fight for a lot of equality and human rights. The thing I think for me is that what politicians do is that they tactically use their words to pull in voters. For example if I were to run a campaign and say I want to make places more inclusive for all kinds of backgrounds and then people did vote for me, and didn't do what I proposed to (most politicians constantly do this and I find it tiring). More people are going to be falling into the 'false hope' trap of politics because they are being mislead up the garden path to think that the campaign is doing something good when in fact its all lie and cover stories to make the said political people look good to the public.

Hey @Amy22, that's really insightful! And you're in the majority opinion - most people in the UK don't trust national or local governments. What do you think could be done to regain trust in politics (both personally, and the British public more generally)?

@Azziman I think for I think if they really just spoke up and told the truth more and actually explained properly how they would go about changing thing like giving an action plan so then we know if what they are saying is realistic. I am not really sure how they can regain trust really but sometimes a lot of the ads they do are quite powerful sometimes I find. I sometimes wished the parties could be a bit more realistic as well as asking what do the people of Britain really want instead of trying to come up with some ideas of what is needed. I also feel like they could involve younger people and ask them what they want.
