Being told that I'm privileged

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 17,476 The Mix Honorary Guru
I've lived in poverty all my life, no-one cares about me and I find every day a bitter struggle. Despite that, many people have told me that I'm "inherently privileged" and as such I should never complain about anything, nor should I ask for help or receive help in regard to anything. When I've said the truth that I'm not, I've been told that I'm "so used to being privileged that I don't realise how much I benefit from it".

How can I successfully counter these false accusations and gain the help that I need?
