    At the age of 16 you're free to walk out the door and never come back - you're still in legal charge of your parents until you're 18 but the odds of being dragged back are slim.
    Whether or not you actually have anywhere to go is another matter entirely.

    At 16 you can have sex, smoke, move out etc etc,

    And at 18 you can do whatever you like. :D

    Its a very fine line, you are out of parental control when you are 16 but with several caveats. When you are 18 these caveats are nearly removed, but there are still things- university fees, for instance, where your parents are still in charge.

    As for moving out, in theory there is nothing to stop you. But very few private landlords will rent to under-18s, so you will have to be very lucky to find somewhere. It might even be illegal to let to under-18s, but I couldnt be certain.

    I would've moved out a year ago if I had the money to do it because living at home sucks in my case with my fecked up family & everybody ignoring/avoiding each other does my head & I want out :(

    Its very easy to pack your bags and walk out that front door, that is simple. What you then have to think about is where are you going to live ? Where are you going to get money from ? Can you actually afford to move out?
    Its not easy having your own place or even sharing a place with someone, it all revolves around money because it is not cheap to leave home. Your rent money, heating, electricity, food etc etc

    Have a good think about wether you actually do want to move out or moreso can you actually afford to live if you leave home.

    i'm pretty sure that you need a parent or guardian as guarantor. it might not be the law, but i know at the agency my cousin went to (she was 17) they wouldn't let to her without talking to her parents first.

    If someone is 16 then the police will not intervene if they want to leave. My niece left home and there was nothing the police could do, or at least thats what they said.

    incorrect.. you are not able to drive a Heavy Goods Vehicle until you're 21... :lol:
