    Enough to fund my student needs (rent, food, books!) With a student loan, obviously

    Well I needed to learn xhtml/dynamic html, flash, php, mysql, java, director and ftp.


    .....dude go to uni. And decide which bit of working with computers you want to do!!!

    9k plus overtime. i suposes its ok for a (just turned) 19 year old
    What qualifications do you need?
    nohting really. i have an nvq level 2 in general IT but they didnt even ask about that so i dont think it helped nor hindered.

    Im a Lead Developer and General IT/IS Consultant

    **Who do you work for (company)
    Taskcare Ltd (soon to become a contractor)

    23k per year + £2 an hour on call when needed (about £1,000 a month)

    **What qualifications do you need?
    Web languages (HTML, php, pearl, java(servlets) etc..)
    Platform programing (C/C++, VB6, VBA)
    Know MS operating systems inside out
    Knowledge of Linux (debian and redhat)
    Knowledge of IT Industry (new technology, standards etc)

    If you want some tips on how to get ahead.
    1. Know exactly what you do, be sure that you are the only person who can do what you do, as well as you, in the company.
    2. Go outside of you remit once in a while and surprise people with the knowledge you have.
    3. Top yourself up on the IT industry (www.theregister.com) know whats the next big wave
    4. Always ask for more, if you get a raise and your not happy let them know.
    5. Be liked by everyone else in the company, work is a nasty place to have enemys
