Waiting for Bob Hope to Die

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
I got this sent in an email - it was kind of amusing

By the way for those of you that didn't already know Bob was born in London

Poor Bob Hope. Everyone's been waiting for him
to die for years. His obituary in London's
Evening Standard newspaper was written by
Alexander Walker who died two weeks before him.
And the one in the New York Times was written by
a journalist, Vincent Canby, who died in 2000.

I wonder how many other old famous people have already had their Obituaries written by newspapers. Quite a few I'd reckon.

Me neither. Tight git would never get his round in... :D

So why didn't you like him, bearing in mind that you probably didn't ever meet him?

They do that, for old people - the newspapers already write their biographies if they're just retired and not doing anything. Same for TV, the BBC has contingency plans in place if any of the royals dies such as which flag to fly, how long the coverage will be etc etc. In fact ITN and the BBC have rooms full of biographies of people for when they die and all they have to do when it happens is make up a slide which says their name and the year they were born and the current year which is a five minute job.
