Toughening of hands?!

Hi everyone, bit of a weird question but here goes. I went to see my g.p today, and she said that on a letter from my consultant (rheumatologist) it said that she's noticed some 'toughening' of my hands - what the hell does that mean?! I have some kind of arthritis in my hands, so I guess it's linked to that, but she never mentioned it to me at my appointment. Maybe she didn't want to worry me, I don't know. I'm still waiting for a proper diagnosis, just wondered if this pointed in any direction? Any help appreciated! Tates ;)

maybe it means you have hard skin on your hands

you should ask your doctor because you seem concerned about this and they should have really explained it to you
