Sometime ago I quit work and did not work my notice. Do I need to go in and get the payslip and p45 from the company or not? my mum thinks I need to but I really don't want to go back there.

Can you not just phone them or write to them and ask them to send you it? You'll need the bottom part of your P45 when you start a new job so it's important that you get that.

I don't think I have the confidence to face them so if they could send me it that would be great alternatively I will try to persuade a friend to go with me.

Just send them a letter then, I think that's the easiest option rather than taking a friend along with you :)

When I withdrew from a previous employer, they sent me my P45.

You'll definately need it, but just fone up and ask them to post it to you.
