In world history, this time will be remember as truly the end of French influence beyond their borders and a few key trading partners. Had they only gone along or abstained from going against the UK, US Spain and other moral countries in the war against Iraq, France may have been able to salvage the respect they did have in the diplomatic community.
Over the last few weeks, in the world's biggest free market, America - not Eurine land- the dirty oil deals and chemical deals of the French and German have come to light. In the end, a poll was taken and Americans put the French as "friends" dead last of any major country. Their comments to "shut up" designed to bully countries who will be entering the EU, or undermining it if not allowed to join, was yet another sign of a desparate, low growth, faded leader. Why would anyone, who just got past living under communist leadership, follow a former leader who tells them to shut up? A former leader who meets with and makes deals with the world's tyrants just to prove its leadership. I wonder if the African leaders who met in Paris heard how Chirac views them "like a loving father"...makinng grown Black men his children...will feel at that analogy. Under failed sleezy diplomatic effort.
Good night France. You must have been something in your day.

Once this war is completed, the UN Security Council and the French, will know their limitations. When attacked or threatened, the US will, to quote Bush, "bring the people responsible to justice or bring justice to them." Who decides? America does.
The UN debating society, Euro-trash, socialist peace marchers will learn their opinions mean: 0.
Might makes right. Live with it. Hate America. Who cares?
Europe will continue quite well from strength to strength long after your hero Mr. Bush is little more than a black spot in our history.
Thank you.
Aladdin, they're going to join the Mexicans, Pakistanis, Spanish, Italians, UK and America. Or...they won't vote at all. I'll be shocked if the French take a real stand against America because although Saddam owes them a billion in oil....they do 31 billion in business with the US.
What if they are scared too? They've led a cushie life. And what if they see France's delays as being in the way of protecting America. See, I think the French should have bought time on American t.v. to make their case. Because one thing Chirac said was really good. He said we are trying to prevent the needless deaths of your soldiers. That was a good point. Of course on t.v. it was followed by people in France burning the American flag and holding up signs about socialism. But his thought was good.
Now given this compliance with the administration's aims in this regard (overall) you have to also recognise that the spin on any images you see will be highly exaggerated.
what you saw was more than likely conducted by a small and non representative group of emotional extremists who were (to some extent) justifiably upset (as Ive seen you get) over the villification of their nation(s) by the American news media which hypocritically paints any criticism of our own government in national terms to evoke just the same response by average joes such as yourself who dont take time to think through what or who is actually being criticised.
There is no "Anti-American" sentiment over here so far as you believe it to be aimed at the general populace. Most French, German, British or whatever nationality, more than likely have dear friends or relatives in the States and bear no ill will toward our citizens. But then CNN comes on and makes blanket statements against entire nations (such as consistently arrogant and inflammatory remarks by Rumsfeld or Cheney, or any number of political pundits) and the result is that a few, who respond with knee jerk sentimentality, will go out and make a fiery demonstration. We have those in our heartland especially as well who would do the same to the French flag or German flag.
This is why I get so doggarn angry with you when you claim to be learning things and then come back and post nasty, ill informed, and insulting nationalistic crap that is neither true nor focussed on the real issues plaguing our nation and the international debate.
So please, in the future, think through what you post and try to see what you are being fed on the mainstream media for all that it is - spin, half truths and sometimes outright lies, and all for the sake of furthering the corporate machinery.
That is not what our servicemen and women deserve from our government and certainly not worth risking their lives for.
I remain dubious as to whether you will indeed modify the tone and content of your posts or whether tomorrow and thereafter we'll just see more claims of "anti Americanism" or how bad this or that nation is.
Disagreement with policies or political leaders is meat for debate, but national character slants serve to inspire noone in any positive direction.
