Teaching Special Needs children...

How do you get into this? After doing a placement with special needs children I have found I really enjoy it and it could be the job for me. What do you need a degree in and where do you go from there? If you know anyone who teaches at a special school can you ask them?

Thanks

Lol thanks but I was thinking of being a normal school teacher for special needs children rather than dance instructor. Anyway I think I've got all the information I need now. Still, would be nice to have the input of a special needs teacher.

I don't think it is any nicer than wanting to be a "normal" school teacher. I don't think we should emphasise the "difference".

True- but why not teach kids without them then?
Or try teach both- I was just wondering is their any reason she would prefer to teach them?

Im not trying to be in any way prejudice or against people with learning disabilities etc:

We are more alike my friends than we are un alike

    Thank you :)

I want to do this because I am on such a brilliant placement at a special needs school. I get so much back from them, it feels like the hard work is worth it. Being a mainstream pupil all my life, I've noticed that you don't get as much back. You just get lip. My mum's worked with normal pupils and she said you get zilch respect.

Anyway, it's just something i'm drawn to I guess :)
