What albums has anyone bought recently that are any good?

I don't buy albums, I download them but I've got some quite good ones lately! Justin Timberlake - 'Justified', Blue 'One Love' and Kelly Rowland 'Simply Deep' are all very good.

Any reccomendations?

the most recent i got is massive attack - 100th window. very dark, sort of blurs into one 74 minute soundscape.

also recently got black rebel motorcycle club's album, muse's 'origin of symmetry', and dj shadow's 'the private press'.

if you like instrumental / sampled hip hop, get the first dj shadow album. it sounds so much better that it does on paper, just ignore the cheesy 'dj' name.

aphex twin is good for fucking with your head, and i agree with you Simbelyne , blur's self titles album is great. i think its their best.

    heres a suggestion for ya....

Get off your ass and go BUY SOME ALBUMS instead of STEALING them !!!!!!!

I dont mind people who download a few songs to try before they byu kinda thing, but assholes like you who download FULL albums is just crap! , go spend some money!

PS: this isnt meant to sound abusive or anythin, just dont think its right to do this.

    Buy? Are you fucking crazy?
I especially enjoy downloading Metallica (for obv reasons), but will spend money on AC/DC and Motorhead + others.

But I don't tend to download, as the quality is better on CD.
What were CD burners made for (apart from backing up hard drives)?

    Most recent albums

    - QOTSA - Songs for the Deaf
    - Audioslave
    - Tool - Opiate

your recent albums are good - bad seed. everyone else seems to be into shite.

what they are starting to do now is protect cd's by not allowing them to be copyable. the new massive attack cd doesn't even play on a pc. this is what they will all start doing soon.

    Indeed they are.

I've Mp3'd all my cds so I don't have to drag my hi-fi (and cds) everywhere.

But copy protected...what a pain...suppose I could just plug a portable cd player into the soundcard.

True. I bought it the other day and have only listened to it a couple of times but I think that they've lost a bit of their spark. There's no stand out tracks like on the other albums and it gets a bit samey, which you could never say about their other stuff.

Anyway, moving on, the new Saint Etienne album is good and Melody AM by Royksopp is hardly ever off my stereo at the moment. My favourite album of the most recent past aas to be 2 Many DJ's by Soulwax. It's one of those albums that you can listen to over and over again and always pick out new things and I always put it on before I go out.

I bought The Eels last album, Souljacker, last week on a complete whim and it's actually REALLY bloody good! So much so i'm gonna have to buy more of their albums and it's also reignited my love for Beck and all that freaky music.

So yeh, try The Eels even though you mightn't like them! :D
