I've been really stressed over the past 12 months, and all of the things seem to have come to a head right now. Lately all these things goin on around me have got on top of me and the slightest thing seems to tip me over the edge. Its got so bad that I've been feeling suicidal, thinking that there is no point in living anymore if all this is gonna continue. Jus wonderin if I could get any advice?

Yeah Randoms right, you need to talk with someone. The Samaratins wont tell you what to do, they will just listen, you can pour your heart out to them and know its confidential between you and them. You can also email them. Type in samaratins on google search. I mentioned email purely because you may find it easier to write your problems down, write anything thats been happening, how youre feeling etc. Sometimes it is hard to explain how we feel if we have to speak directly with someone.

You obviously are depressed, you realise you have a problem and I think the best way forward would be for tonight contact the samaratins, then tomorrow go and speak to a doctor. Depression is an illness and can be treated :)

You dont need to sit there and suffer, please just go and talk with someone.

    Good luck :)

Edited because the link I 1st put up wont work. I will go and find the correct site :) To send them an email the address is:
Jo@samaritans.org hope thats of some help.

Thanks for the advice you guys, I've already been put through to see counsillors but I dont really like talking to people I dont know, I guess I'm afraid of them thinking I'm a psychopath! But really I'm just a miserable 18 year old girl with a few problems.

If you're having suicidal thoughts, we have an article that may be useful:

    http://www.thesite.org/info/health/depression/feeling_suicidal.html

Remember that depression is a treatable illness, it's worth going back to your doctor if you feel bad.

Have a look around this board, there's some good advice from people who have been through similar experiences.

Maybe you could try a different counsellor.

I've been seeing one recently who I really trust and who has really helped me. I didn't actually tell them my full name or address or anything like that so it's not as if they could send around the looney police to pick me up even if they did think I was a psychopath.

Good luck, I hope you feel much happier really soon :)

    Here's a little song i wrote,
you might want to sing it note for note,
    don't worry, be happy

in every life we have some trouble,
when you worry you make it double
    don't worry, be happy

    dont worry be happy now
    dont worry be happy
    dont worry be happy
    dont worry be happy
    dont worry be happy
aint got no place to lay your head,
somebody came and took your bed,
    don't worry, be happy

the landlord say your rent is late,
    he may have to litagate,
dont worry (small laugh) be happy,

    look at me im happy,
    don't worry, be happy

i give you my phone number,
    when your worried, call me,
    i make you happy

    don't worry, be happy

aint got no cash, aint got no style,
aint got no gal to make you smile
    but don't worry, be happy

cos when you worry, your face will frown,
and that will bring everybody down,
    so don't worry, be happy

    don't worry, be happy now...

    don't worry, be happy
    don't worry, be happy
    don't worry, be happy
    don't worry, be happy

now there this song i wrote
i hope you you learned it note for note
    like good little children

    dont worry be happy

    listen to what i say
in your life expect some trouble
when you worry you make it double
    dont worry be happy
    be happy now

    dont worry, be happy
    dont worry, be happy
    dont worry, be happy
    dont worry, be happy
    dont worry
    dont worry be happy
    don't worry, don't worry, don't do it,
be happy, put a smile on your face,
don't bring everybody down like this

don't worry, it will soon pass whatever it is,
    don't worry, be happy,
    i'm not worried

i have no idea what its like over there, but here, most of the mental health professionals work in buildings with their own offices (not mental hospitals, just health buildings)

you do have to pay, but i would see if your insurance covers it. alot of the time, most of the costs can be covered by health insurance, and this also goes along with finding one. start out by asking your doctor about it, s/he will get somebody, and things are taken care of from there

Start with maybe a visit to your doctor, he should be able to reccomend a reputable one. You wont have to pay.
It might help you know if you do write an email to the samaratans, you might open up more while writing as apposed to having to talk? Least by contacting the samaratans you can phone, email anytime of the day or night and there will be someone at the other end. If you phoned the Samaratans you dont have to give your real name, you dont have to give you address, everything is confidential and you always get a friendly voice on the other end of the phone :)

    Keep hanging in there :)

Well I took your advice and e mailed them, and I didnt tell anyone. My boyfriend kept asking what i was doing but I didnt wanna say, simply because I wanted to do this on my own. He kept harrassing me and accusing me of things, such as looking at men on the net! so I told him. Now I feel that I'm kinda being suffocated by people (not you lot) and I cant have anything to myself. I know he's only concerned about me but I wish he could have left me to it. Sorry poopsie :(

Im glad you have talked with someone. Its good that you have got some of your feelings out, rather than bottle them all up. Your boyfriend now knows how your feeling, so hopefully he will be there for you.
Really it does help if you talk with people, so anytime you feeling low remember not to keep it all to yourself :)

Good luck, and let us know how youre getting on :)

I went through alot of similar stuff a while back which lead to alot of things going wrong in my life. But im all better now. The best thing to do is talk to a friend. I found that whenever i got down or felt like i wanted to hurt myself (and i had a fair few goes) i rang my friend. she helped me through it and i went to see a councellor. Sometimes councellors and things don't help. They didn't for me but then everybody is different.

I also found that finding the things that trigger your suicidal or depressing thoughts and eliminating them helps. Say a certain television program or a certain song triggers you then don't watch that programme or listen to the song. Found something that counterbalances with it. Like a food or something anything you won't. I know that this page might sound like a whole load of jibberish but i know its what helped me get through the worst of it all.

The thing is you have taken the first step by admiting to someone you have a problem. No all it takes is alot of will power and self confidence but if you just keep thinking you can get out of it and you wqill help yourself it helps alot. Trust me when you get through this it is the best feeling in the world. All of a sudden the world is a different place and you look at everything in a whole new light.

Anyway good look hunni. Just think there are always people here for you to talk to people who have been through exactly what your going through (even if they are a bit youger) Good luck with everythign and i know how hard it can be. Love Tek-ila xxx

    Yes I Agree

I agree with mostly everyone. I think that you need to call the Samaritans. I had even called them once when I was feeling really suicidal.

Everyone deserves help at times, even me, and I think that it's a really good thing if you can have someone to talk with and to be able to get your feelings, thoughts, and emotions out. I know that it has helped me, in a lot of ways, just to be able to get my feelings, emotions, and thoughts out.

I hope that everything works out well for you because you deserve it. You are a good person, inside and out, and we all deserve some kind of help in one way or another.

Good luck in all that you do and hope that you start feeling better really soon.
