  Sorry pal, but the second amendment was intended to support and provide justification for a civilian militia before the age of our professional standing army. The fact that its been twisted and reinterpreted by card carrying nutcase NRA members who demand the right to carry any category of firearm, including military assault weaponry doesnt change that. What it does do is guarantee that our nation will remain a bastion of violent an unnecessary bloodshed.
  
  But this one argument which has long been shown to be endless.

  Ah, that explains why it appears in a document (the Bill of Rights) that deals with individual rights...
  
  that explains why the various papers left by those founders each call it an integral individual right to the existence of a free state...

  Funny thing. The people who wrote the US Constitution have a demonstrated tendency to be more than a bit organized and logical...
  
  yet, we are to believe that although they addressed military matters in the body of the Constitution, they felt some special need to put one more comment about them into the document that they added about individual rignts....
