Qualifications for Nursing

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
Im 17 and Im doing my Diploma in Administration whilst repeating my English in GCSE. But recently I have taken interest in Nursing.

Next year I plan to do my A-levels but was wondering:

What qualifications do u need to get into a nursing course?
Is there any specific subjects that are necessary to have.

My friend is going to be a nurse. She didn't finish her A Levels, but she worked in the hospital for a few months over the summer as an auxillery nurse and is now at Uni......so I'm guessing that there's not anything you *must* have to get into it. Talking to a careers person at school is probably your best bet.

There are different kinds of nursing course, some are longer or shorter, others are more practical or academic, degree or diploma. Have a look on the UCAS website, or even ring up the personel officer at your nearest large hospital.

Better still visit RCN Website, I'm sure that they will be more than helpful.
