Lots of errors.

Ok, I am now desperate for help and am crap with computers so please don't start using big scary words with me or strange mixes of letters.

Well, I was happily sitting here playing away on TheSite and some other websites when this little error popped up saying that Explorer had caused an error in MSHTML.DLL and then the webpage disappeared.
Argh! Was a really long post too. :(
I did this a few times with the same thing happening so I restarted the computer and thought that the problem was solved.

It wasn't. :(

Now the whole computer has turned against me and I had some error with WinWord or something like that and then I had some other error (forgot to write down what it was) and the whole of my desktop thingy went blank except for my background.

I restarted it again (didn't seem to be any other option) and clicked on the Internet Explorer button and the damn computer restarted itself again. Gargh!

I've also had some problem where webpages close themselves as soon as I open them.

Oh, and I had an error with MSN (forgot to write down that one too).

I'm getting pissed off with the damn thing and will try to find out what the other errors were but I really need some help.

Oh, I would've checked back to see if posts like this had already been made but the computer tends to have an error before I get the chance to do a search.

I can cope with the computer being like this cos I really need it but it would be nicer if these errors went away.

Ta muchly if you can help. :)

Ok, this error that is causing my whole desktop to go all empty comes up as:

'Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library' in the little top bar bit(I have no idea what it's called).

    Then it says:

    Runtime Error!

    Program: C:\WINDOWS\EXPLORER.EXE

    R6025
    -pure virtual function call

I have NO idea how to sort that. Pah. Damn this thing.

    LMAO

Yet another error. Something to do with JSCRIPT.DLL.

Oh, I love my computer. :p

I'm going to have to wait forever for all you clever internet people to come on aren't I? Ah, buggery. :)

Good God. I leave the damn thing for five days and it falls apart on me. Missed me that much. :)

Sounds like one of the standard windows fuck ups. You could try using the self repair feature in IE if you have the latest version - it should be in the control panel. More likely you're going to have to reinstall IE and maybe even windows. Unfortunatly that's just they way it normally is with windows....

This computer thing has really gotten to you hasn't it?

You should just kick the bloody thing, and chuck it out the window, the frustrating piece of equipment that it is.

The computer always tells me I've done errors, and performed illegal operations. So sue me, you fucking man-made scrap of machinery.
Anyways, then it closes the window, whilst I'm in the middle of doing something important (such as looking at porn websites). heehee, no I don't do that really. Yeah, it pisses me off, but you know what you can do???

You could call a computer technician, I had a reeeeally fine one last time!!!
He didn't do a fantastic job, but he was fine nevertheless. So cool

Tra la la another error with some Rndnal thingy came up yesterday or something like that. I'll have to wait for that to happen again.

The computer seems to be okay now. No errors for a few hours now. I bet one will pop up now.

    Hmmm. *calm and happy vibes*

Sorry about the lack of response over the past few days, I've been struggling to get to thesite thanks to one of the main Zeus routers being down between NZ and UK...

Lets see then.... the files causing you grief:

Mshtml.dll is used to render HTML content in IE
jscript.dll is used to render Javascript content in IE

Those would be IE errors so like mentioned try the repair faculity on Internet Explorer, these files may well have become corrupt..

As for the 'Rndnal' error can you get the entire code written down and printed here so I can look it up further... thats a Windows Runtime error but I might be able to find the exact cause.. :)

Aww, thank you all for your help. I can't find this repair thing but I'll have a proper look tomorrow. :)

It was being such a bitch earlier and kept restarting and then as soon as it had got to the desktop thing it would restart again. It did that like 5 times in a row. And I wasn't even doing anything. EVIL.

Okay, I don't know how to find out this Rndnal code thingy so I guess I'll just wait till it has an error again. I'm so crap. :)
So that would be two Runtime errors...not that I know what it is. That's the one causing me the most grief. I think I posted what the little error thingy kept saying somewhere in here.

    Anyhoo, rambling...

Thank you for helping me. :) And I'll annoy you some more with what else goes wrong later. :p

I'm such a freak. I still get that MSHTML thing. and some KERNAL one or something. Mmmm. chicken.

Ah well. This made me laugh, that is my only excuse from bringing it back from the place where it was dead and buried...oh and there was the fact that cos I'm on this proxy thang would I have to retype in all the connection details stuff if I reinstall IE? cos it's pissing me off big stylee.

Seeing as you suddenly have started getting lots of random errors, is it possible you did either of the following recently:

    a. Installed something
    b. Shook your PC about a bit

Do the errors happen all the time, or after using the PC for a bit, or straight away?

It could be a fan has mechanically failed and the temperature inside is getting too high. Listen for weird noises of failing fans, open the lid (don't touch in there!) and look for the fans - are any not turning?

    Thank you

Oooooh, when I turn it off (I don't do that very often) for a while and then turn it on again it makes this really loud noise!

Hehe, it wasn't recent, it was back in July, calmed down a bit but lately has been getting crazy again.
I don't shake it. I do occasionally kick it. I know, but it's better than taking it out on something else.
They tend to happen just when I think the computer is getting back to normal. Evil bitch. So I guess once in a while but that's once in a while daily.
I'll look at the fans in a mo but it's dark and I can't see under this bloody desk. Grrrr.

Loud noise? Like a buzzing whirry sound? That will be a fan bearing. Either in your power supply, or your CPU's heatsink fan.
I've worn out a couple of heatsink fans in the past, and now a power supply fan.
Pugwash was asking about the errors straight away, or after having it on for a while becuase I think he suspects an overheating problem, which may occur if you've got cooling problems, which you may have if one of your fans is packing in and not going as fast as it should, especially your CPU's heatsink fan. If the problems you've been describing don't happen straight away (after the computer has been off for a while), then overheating of some components, especially the CPU, could be one of the causes of the symptoms you've been experiencing.
The Internet Explorer repair option can be found by going to the Control Panel, then Add/Remove Programs, then select the Uninstall option for Internet Explorer. Instead of instantly uninstalling it, you will get some options. One of those options is to run the Repair function, which attempts to sort out problems with it. Sometimes it works.

Or you could install something like Opera ( http://www.opera.com ) and then you'd never need to bother with IE again. Or not often anyway.

Opera's another program like Internet explorer that shows websites.
