never ending throat infection!

Over the past couple of years, I've had quite a few throat infections. When I first went to the docs about it, the doc took a swab, because there was a lot of white lumpy stuff at the back of my throat (disgusting I know!). Nothing obvious came up on the test results.
Every time the infection comes back, the white lumpy stuff appears, and it is SO painful! I can hardly swallow, and eating is a nightmare. When the white stuff goes, it leaves the back of my throat with tiny little hole things, my dad reckons the back of my throat looks like a bomb site!
I've had this infection twice in the last few months, and both times I was given antibiotics. When I went last time, my doc said it was possible that I had glandular fever, and that if the antibiotics didn't clear it up then that's what it could be.
Since then, it seems to have cleared up a lot, but there's still a few white bits left (!), and I just seem to have a constant cold. Since the infection went I've had a persistent snotty nose (!), but it doesn't clear with blowing, and so it's all phlegmy at the back of my throat, it's even made me wretch a few times, eurgh!
I've also just generally been feeling tired and under the weather.
If anyone has any ideas about this, please tell me, cos I'm getting really fed up. It doesn't help that I also have suspected rheumatoid arthritis, so lying down and having a nap in the middle of the day may feel like a good idea, but I wake up stiff and sore and grumpy!
Anyways, please reply and give me some help!

Take a trip back to the docs and see what he suggests.
the E.N.T asy my tonsils are normal. they are used to this problem if you are suffering and are really fed up try and get some help.
For your throat, i'm not sure if you might have chronic tonsillitis or something but cut down on dairy foods and eat more fruits.
Eurrrrgh That stuff is disgusting!
As for the cod liver oil, I'm already taking it, but in a capsule form, which is tasteless! Not like the horror stories I've heard about the liquid!
You get used to it.
