In need of friend

JM123JM123 Posts: 1 Just got here
I’m a 19 year old male and struggling to make friends with boys my age. Does anyone have any suggestions please? I just feel that I don’t connect with anyone and I would really like to have friends.

Heyy @JM123, welcome to the boards!! I’ve not got much advice for you but I just wanted to say it’s lovely to have you here and this is a great place to make friends and speak to like minded people :)

    Hey welcome!

I hope you find it helpful. It may be better to post this question in health and well-being. Or relationships. As will get more answers about that specifically

But tbh I think the best way to make friends is to ask about them. People just love to speak about themselves
“And when they look at you, they won't see everything you've been through. They won't see the **** that turned to scars that began to fade with time. They won't see the heartbreaking things that shook up and changed your entire world. They won't know how many tears you cried or even what it was you were crying about. They won't see how strong you had to be because you had no other choice. What they will see though is how compassionate you are because you experienced pain. What they will see is how kind you are because you experienced how cruel the world is. What they will see is how good you are because you've seen how bad things or people can be. The difference between you and your experiences are who you choose to be, despite everything that could have turned you cold and unkind. You are the good the world needs and the best of us.” ~ Kirsten Corley

A belated welcome to the community @JM123!

As @Shaunie said, posting in one of the support forums like Sex & Relationships might get you more responses to the question about making friends. Would also second the suggestion about asking people questions about themselves - it's a great way of making people feel listened to, valued, and 'seen'. Being a good listener can get you far. :)

Hi there, it's great to meet you!

My best advice to you would to try and get invovled within your community - volunteer, join a club or a team of something that interests you. If nothing jumps out at you, try something new and keep trying until you find something.

Believe in yourself because you just haven't found the right people for you yet doesn't mean you never will <3

Hey :) It's good that you're looking for support on this, thanks for coming on here! Do you like any sports? That's a good way to meet people, and you also have natural places to go out (e.g. pubs, stadiums) and spend time with them x
