Heyy everyone,

Going to Uni can exacerbate pre-existing feelings of loneliness. What can help with this transition and reduce these feelings of loneliness?

Maybe somethings don't get better, but we do. We get stronger. We learn to live with our situations as messy and ugly as they are. We fix what we can and we adapt to what we can't. Maybe some of us will never fully be okay, but at least we're here. We're still trying. We're doing the best we can. That's worth celebrating too ❤

Start a WhatsApp group with friends/family from home and post silly things in it when you are feeling lonely. It helps, and especially with home friends a lot of the time you can tell they are feeling it too. I also found surrounding myself with pictures of loved ones really helped.
Treat yourself as you would treat a good friend

Take time to meet new people, but also don't worry if you don't find "your people" straight away, freshers week can be super overwhelming and not everyone makes friends for life then, despite all the hype about it! Go to societies that focus on your interests, and get chatting to people on your course. Chances are everyone is feeling the same way, so you're not alone!
